Miss Kaitlyn Oljace

Miss Oljace is the middle school science teacher at St. Vincent de Paul. She graduated from Eureka College in 2010, earning her BA in elementary education, with a specialization in Physical Science. Kaitlyn received her PMA in STEM education from Bradley University in 2015. She is an alumnus of St. Patrick School and Washington Community High School, both in Washington. St. Patrick's remains her home parish.

As an 8th grade home room teacher, Miss Oljace works closely with Miss Hogan in order to ensure a strong faith foundation. Faith is assimilated into science lessons daily by having conversations about the scientific ideal versus the Church's teachings. Kaitlyn has two favorite Saints: Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta, and St. Rita of Cascia, who is her Confirmation Saint.

Miss Oljace enjoys spending time with her family, especially her niece and nephew who live in New Mexico. She enjoys watching movies, shopping, reading, listening to music, attending concerts, and eating at new restaurants. In the summer she works for the catering company which provides food for the Peoria Chiefs. During the school year, you will frequently find her at Peoria Rivermen hockey games.

"There's no place like the science lab!" In room 113, no two days are the same. Miss Oljace loves allowing students to participate in labs and other types of project based learning. It is common in Miss Oljace's class for students to be out of their seats, engaging in discussions, and showing evidence of their understanding.
