Miss Kathleen O'Brien

Miss O’Brien teaches fifth grade at St. Vincent de Paul. The 2017 2018 year is Miss O’Brien’s first year at Saint Vincent de Paul and her first year as an educator.  She graduated from Illinois State University with her BA in Elementary Education in May 2017 and her associates from Illinois Central College.  Miss O’Brien’s home parish is Saint Philomena.  She attended Saint Philomena Grade School and Peoria Notre Dame High School.

Miss O’Brien loves being able to teach to her students’ mind, body, and soul.  Her favorite Saint is Saint Bernadette of Lourdes.  When Miss O’Brien was in the fifth grade, this was a special year.  During her fifth grade year she decided she wanted to be a teacher, and her love for Saint Bernadette developed.

Outside of the classroom, Miss O’Brien loves to be with her family, be outside, do DIY projects, write poems, babysit, and play basketball and volleyball.  Miss O’Brien also enjoys coaching basketball, track and volleyball.  She loves to shop for great “deals” or bargains.  Her ultimate get away trip would be to go to Ireland with her family.

One of Miss O’Brien’s favorite Irish blessings:

“May green be the grass you walk on,

May blue be the skies above you.

May pure be the joys that surround you,

May true be the hearts that love you.”
