Illinois “Invest in Kids” Tax Credit Program –
Are you interested in receiving a Tax Credit?  What if it could also help the students at St. Vincent de Paul School?  If you are interested in receiving an Illinois state tax credit all while helping more children have access to a private school education at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School or Peoria Notre Dame High School, let us tell you about donation options available through the Empower Illinois “Invest in Kids Act.”  Donors receive an Illinois tax credit worth 75% of their gift (up to $1 million) and donations can be designated to a specific school (St. Vincent de Paul or Peoria Notre Dame) or a group of schools.  Visit www.empowerillinois.org for additional information, or contact the St. Vincent de Paul business office at 691-3602 or school office at 691-5012 for assistance with the donation process.

 

Did you Know? Your child can attend a Catholic School - Financial Assistance Available – applications due Monday, April 15th
Tuition assistance scholarship grants from the endowment fund established as a result of the Diocese of Peoria ROOTED IN FAITH Campaign and named in honor of Archbishop Spalding, the first Bishop of Peoria, will be available for the 2019-2020 school year for students enrolled in or intending to enroll in grades Kindergarten through 12 in any Catholic school located in the Diocese of Peoria whose families are active members of a Catholic parish in the diocese.  All grants will be based on financial need objectively assessed. 

Information about the grants and application materials may be obtained from any Catholic elementary or secondary school in the Diocese of Peoria or on the Diocesan website www@cdop.org under Catholic Educationand then under Financial Assistance.  Consult the attachments entitled, “Spalding Scholarship Protocols Procedures 2019-20,” and “Spalding Scholarship Check List 2019-20,” for all requirements necessary to be eligible for an award. 

Parents are encouraged to apply online at:  online.factsmgt.com/aid.  Families of students currently receiving grants are reminded that all grants are for one year only, and anyone seeking to renew a grant for the 2019-2020 school year must reapply. 

Deadline date for the completed application is April 15, 2019Notification of grant awards will be made by mid-June, 2019.      

Another funding opportunity is also available due to the Invest in Kids Act legislation in Illinois.  Students may be eligible for up to 100% of tuition and fees under a new program for tax credit scholarships (TCS).  Details on how to apply and who qualifies are available on the Empower Illinois website at www.empowerillinois.org.  Students who receive a TCS are ineligible to receive a Spalding award. 

 

Women’s Care Center Bottle Drive for Lent – March 7th – April 5th
Almsgiving is one of the three pillars of Lent. Join us in our almsgiving project this Lent for the Women's Care Center, a facility that provides free, confidential counseling, support and education to women facing unplanned pregnancies.  Show your support by praying for the Women’s Care Center, for their patrons, and by encouraging your child’s participation in our drive.  We encourage students to offer odd jobs to earn money, give from their own piggy banks, or ask family and friends to contribute to the bottle drive.  Bottles will be distributed to each student on Thursday, March 7th and should be returned by Friday, April 5th. 

 

½ Day of School – Friday, March 22nd, “Optional Conferences,” dismissal at 11:30 AM and YES AfterCare Available

On Friday, March 22nd SVdP will be having an 11:30 AM dismissal due to “Optional Conferences.” Individual teachers will be contacting parents to schedule a conference IF they believe a conference is warranted for a student.  If you want a conference with your student’s teacher please contact that teacher to set up a specific time.  Please do not stop by the school in hopes of meeting with a teacher since all conference time slots will be filled by appointment only.  This includes middle school teachers also.  There will be AfterCare available that day.  Please send a lunch with your student if attending CARE that day.

 

All-School Stations of the Cross – Thursday, March 28th 
Please join us as the seventh grade students lead the Stations of the Cross on Thursday, March 28th at 2:30 PM in the church. 

 

Eighth Grade Graduation Pictures – scheduled for Wed. April 3rd 
Eighth grade graduation pictures will be taken on Wednesday, April 3rd beginning at 8:30 AM.  More information was emailed to all 8th grade families. 

 

K-7th Grade Spring Pictures – Wednesday, April 3rd    
SVdP will once again offer the opportunity to have individual K – 7th Grade Spring Pictures taken at school on Wednesday, April 3rd by TSS Photography.  Students should be well groomed and dressed "head to toe" in colorful dress clothes - red, green, yellow, and light blue work best.  Picture Day is a uniform or dress-up day.  No money is due on this day.  Proofs will be made for you to view, allowing you to choose both the pose you prefer and the portrait package you would like.  You will receive proofs, price information, and order forms approximately two weeks after the portraits have been taken. 

 

Eighth Grade “Witness to the Stations” – Friday, April 12th 
Please join us as the eighth grade students present “Witness to the Stations”, a live presentation of the Stations of the Cross at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 12th in the Livingston Gymnasium.  This would be a great way for your family to enter into Holy Week.  All are welcome!

 

SVdP Students Last Day of School – Friday, May 24th
The diocese has informed all the schools that since they will have met the required number of instructional hours for the school year, students will not have to make up the missed school days taken due to severe weather.  Therefore the last day of school for SVdP students will still be on Friday, May 24th with dismissal after the 10:00 AM Mass.

 

School Religious Activities and Devotions - 2018-2019
Please see our SVdP School Religious Activities and Devotions Calendar for all the school religious activities.  Parents are always welcome to attend with our school children.

 

Save the Date – Totus Tuus 2019
Be sure to include Totus Tuus, our fun filled Catholic kids camp, in your summer planning.  Totus Tuus will be held at St. Vincent de Paul June 23-29, 2019.  Registration information to come.

 

Donut Sundays
Come over to the Parish Hall after Mass for some fellowship ..... and donuts! Catch up with some old friends and meet some new ones. Donut Sundays follow the 9:00 and 11:00 Masses.
