Catholic Schools Week – Saturday, Jan. 25th - Friday, Jan. 31st 
Each day of Catholic Schools Week will begin with a prayer service in the New Gym.  Please remember to drop your students off at the New Gym entrance every morning.  Themes, events, and dress up days can all be found in “Catholic Schools Week Parent Flyer 2020.” 


SVdP Scholastic Book Fair January 23rd – 31st - Old Gymnasium
The Scholastic Book Fair is here and will run through Friday, January 31st!  


SVdP Open House – Sunday, January 26th
Be sure to come this Sunday, January 26th from 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM for SVdP’s Open House!  Donuts, juice, coffee, and milk will be served, teachers/staff will be hosting, and the Book Fair will be open for viewing/purchasing books.


½ Day of School – Wednesday, January 29th – dismiss at 11:30 AM
Just a reminder:  there will be a ½ day of school on Wednesday, January 29thdue to Professional Development for our teachers.  Dismissal will be at 11:30 AM and AfterCARE will be available but parents need to provide a lunch.


Grandparents Celebration Luncheon – Friday, January 31st    
The Grandparents Luncheon will be Friday, January 31st in the Parish Hall.  All guests are invited to join us for Mass at 10:00 AM.

After Mass, all are invited to visit the classrooms, tour the school, visit the Book Fair in the small gym, relax and have coffee or tea and a snack in the cafeteria next to the small gym, and listen to our SVdP band while you visit with us.  

Again this year TSS photography will be taking pictures of the grandparents with their grandchild/ren!  The cost is only $10.00.  Please see “SVdP Grandparents Day photo order form” for more details. 

Your lunchtime will be scheduled alphabetically by the FAMILY last name.  See below for your time and please inform your child/ren’s grandparents/special guests.  If you requested to eat with a relative/specific family, a separate email will be sent later today to those families with their lunchtime.

 Also our school dismissal time will be at 1:30PM that Friday, January 31st.

Early Dismissal Day - Friday, January 31st dismiss at 1:30 PM
Just a reminder:  Mark your calendars for Friday, January 31st as an early dismissal day.  Due to Grandparents Day/Luncheon for Catholic School’s Week, dismissal will be at 1:30 PM.  There will be AfterCARE from 1:30 PM dismissal to 6:00 PM as usual.


St. Vincent de Paul Preschool Registration 2020-2021– Sun., Feb. 9th
St. Vincent de Paul Preschool registration for the 2020-2021 school year will take place on Sunday, February 9th  after the 9:00 AM Mass at the preschool.  Openings for the three year-olds and Pre-K classes will be available.  Open slots will be filled according to the admission policy outlined in the St. Vincent de Paul Preschool Handbook found on our website at

Class times are as follows: 

The options for three year-olds (children turning 3 years of age by September 1, 2020) are:

1) Monday, Wednesday, Friday

8:30 AM – 11:00 AM           OR                   8:30 AM – 3:00 PM

2) Tuesday, Thursday

8:30 AM – 11:00 AM            OR                   8:30 AM – 3:00 PM

*Parish Members only – 5-Day - M-F       (8:30am - 3:00pm) 

The options for Pre-Kindergarten (children turning 4 years of age by September 1, 2020) are:

1) Monday – Friday

8:30 AM – 11:00 AM               OR                   8:30 AM – 3:00 PM

2) Monday – Friday

12:30 PM – 3:00 PM 

In addition to the class time, St. Vincent de Paul School offers before and after care for preschoolers.  The pre-school registration fee of $50.00/child is due at the time of registration and is non-refundable.  Other options MAY be available.  Please call Mrs. Barnett, Preschool Administrator, at 691-5012 ext. 105 for any questions or to request a different option. 


No School – Monday, Feb. 17th
There will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, February 17th due to the President’s Day Holiday.


Kindergarten/New Student Registration 2020-2021 – Sun., Feb. 23rd    
Mark your calendars:  Sunday, February 23rd for SVdP’s Kindergarten and New Student Registration for the 2020-2021 school year.  It will take place from 9:00 AM to Noon in the school lobby.  More information to follow.


Did you Know?  Your child can attend a Catholic School – Financial Assistance Available
Tuition assistance scholarship grants from the endowment fund established as a result of the Diocese of Peoria ROOTED IN FAITH Campaign and named in honor of Archbishop Spalding, the first Bishop of Peoria, will be available for the 2020-2021 school year for students enrolled in or intending to enroll in grades Kindergarten through 12 in any Catholic school located in the Diocese of Peoria whose families are active members of a Catholic parish in the diocese.  All grants will be based on financial need objectively assessed. 

Information about the grants and application materials may be obtained from any Catholic elementary or secondary school in the Diocese of Peoria or on the Diocesan website under Catholic Educationand then under Financial Assistance.  Consult the detailed Protocols and Procedures and Checklist for all requirements necessary to be eligible for an award. 

Parents must apply online at:  Families of students currently receiving grants are reminded that all grants are for one year only, and anyone seeking to renew a grant for the 2020-2021 school year must reapply. 

Deadline date for the completed application is April 15, 2020Notification of grant awards will be made by the end of June 2020.    

Another funding opportunity is also available due to the Invest in Kids Act legislation in Illinois.  Students may be eligible for up to 100% of tuition and fees under a new program for tax credit scholarships (TCS).  Details on how to apply and who qualifies are available on the Empower Illinois website at  Students who receive a TCS are ineligible to receive a Spalding award.

Save the Date – Totus Tuus 2020

Be sure to include Totus Tuus, our fun filled Catholic kids camp, in your summer planning.  Totus Tuus will be held at St. Vincent de Paul June 21-26, 2020.  Registration information to come later this spring.
