Women's Guild

The St. Vincent de Paul Women's Guild supports both the activities of the parish and school.  Any adult woman of the parish is considered a member of the Guild.

Highlights include:

  • Providing our children with a Catholic education in an environment where we strive to teach them to live every day as a positive role model and to follow in the foot steps of Jesus is one of the many reasons a Catholic education is pursued.
  • The Catholic school system relies heavily on the parents for support and the Women’s Guild is one avenue in which parishioners are able to participate in the school and parish by providing their time and unique talents.
  • When school resumes in the fall, many social activities are underway headed by the Women’s Guild and chaired by dedicated volunteers. The Viking Fun Fest begins the school year.  Preparations then begin for Trunk or Treat which is always a big hit for all ages! Planning for the Very Viking Christmas Bazaar kicks off in the fall, as well.  The Guild also provides activities heading into winter to provide fun for the women of the parish. These include Bingo night and The Women’s Holiday Mass and Dinner.
Many volunteers always help and several offer to chair events which is much needed for a successful outcome. Our parishioners also look forward to the Chili Supper, the several Donut Sundays throughout the year. Our biggest fundraiser of the year is the Dinner Auction. Many volunteers and committee members are needed for this one special night. Months of planning go into this event and the parishioners make it happen by their countless hours of preparation, planning and dedication.

The Women’s Guild sponsors several annual events:

  • Viking Fun Fest, for families at the beginning of the school year.
  • Trunk or Treat, a safe opportunity for children to trick or treat on the Friday before Halloween.
  • Very Viking Christmas Bazaar, the second Saturday in November, kicks off the Holiday season.
  • Women's Holiday Mass, an Advent celebration of Mass with dinner to follow for the women of the parish.
  • The Dinner Auction, the principal fundraiser of the Women’s Guild, takes place on a Saturday in February, It’s filled with food, fun, a live and silent auction.
  • Chili Supper, a social for all parishioners to kick off Catholic School’s Week.
  • Women’s Retreat, a spiritual time away during Lent to focus on our relationship with the Lord.
  • Bingo Night

The Guild also sponsors regular donut Sundays, and receptions for 1st Communion, Confirmation, and Graduation.  On Donut Sundays, refreshments are offered in the parish hall after the 9:00 and 11:00 am Masses.
