Ms. Maureen Carroll serves as special services teacher for the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School community. Although she was born in New York, she moved to Illinois as an infant and was raised in Schaumburg. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Illinois State University and later completed her Master of Arts in Teaching and Leadership at Saint Xavier University.
Ms. Carroll brings more than 34 years of experience in education, having taught Kindergarten, Second, Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grades in Peoria Public Schools. Throughout her career, she has been dedicated to helping students develop both academically and personally, fostering a love of learning that lasts a lifetime.
In her classroom, students will find a nurturing environment where they are given the skills, confidence, and encouragement they need to become successful lifelong learners. She loves to blend learning, laughter, and faith as she partners with families to help each child reach their God-given potential.
Ms. Carroll’s favorite saint is St. Angela Merici, founder of the Ursuline Order, whose example holds special meaning because her grandmother, Angela Ursula Carroll, was named in the saint’s honor. Her favorite prayer is the Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi, a beautiful reminder to be an instrument of God’s peace and love.
Ms. Carroll believes God gently guides us to where we are meant to be if we are willing to listen. She often recalls Fr. David’s reminder that “The Lord will nudge you on the path to follow.” As she considered retirement, many people encouraged her to explore the teaching opportunities at St. Vincent de Paul, but she initially planned to simply substitute teach. When she received a text message from a trusted colleague and friend, it felt less like a gentle nudge and more like a clear invitation from God. She knew St. Vincent de Paul was exactly where He was calling her to continue sharing her gifts with children.
Outside of school, Ms. Carroll enjoys reading and spending quality time with her family.
