Ms. Carew is the PE teacher at St. Vincent de Paul. She has spent the majority of her life involved in athletics either playing or coaching. Having grown up in Iowa she now enjoys living in Peoria. Her four children have been brought up in the Catholic faith and have attended and are currently attending Peoria Notre Dame and their home parish, St. Marks.

Ms. Carew brings her Catholic faith into the gym daily through prayer and special projects. She encourages the students to show their faith through kindness and good sportsmanship.

When not teaching, Ms. Carew is the biggest fan of her children. They have all been very active in athletics and she spends the majority of her time on a field or in a gym at their games. Her oldest daughter was a defensive back on the Peoria Notre Dame’s soccer team that placed 3rd in state in 2015. Her youngest daughter was fortunate enough to play her 8th grade basketball season with St. Vincent de Paul’s team. Ms. Carew also enjoys working on projects in her home, playing board games and cards with her family and a challenging game of Sudoku.

Ms. Carew is hoping that her students enjoy what they are learning and experiencing in her class. She feels this is one of the classes where the students can have some fun while keeping their bodies healthy and being a “kid”. She enjoys encouraging all the students to try realizing that not all activities are for everyone.  “Don’t limit your challenges, challenge your limits”.
